Run feast keeps Lion Hawks top of the table

After losing the toss and being pit in Lion Hawks made very swift work of puttng on a massive score. The new opening partnership of Henry Edmonds and Dave Walcott putting on 86 for the first wicket in just 11 overs, with myself making an electric 55 run (10 four and a 6) s before running out of steam, Although the highest score I have had for sometime was short but enthralling! The onslaught continued with a brisk 60 runs from Lewis (7 fours and 2 sixes). There was also some good contributions from Josh, Ben , Ibrahim and Nathan . The whole innings was held together with Henry Edmonds batting the whole innings to score a well earned debut century. Over the last few weeks Henry's batting has blossomed and it has been great to see him reach this what seemed inevitable milestone, and like myself a few weeks back, Carl Edmonds was able to have the rewarding feeling of seeing his son score his first century whilst playing in the game.

To be honest the bowlers had an unenviable task, knowing that the Batsman were unlikely to take too many risks. We did take the opportunity to give every single player a bowl (even me). We took our time but eventually bowled out our hosts for 167. in the 40th over with wickets spread about. With Scott Cobbold probably being the pick of the bowlers with the new ball, getting 2 bowled wickets. The 186 run winning margin will take some stopping and great preparation for the 2020 shield final we have later this week. Plus keeps us hunting at the top of the division for other honours and promotion.
