Tough evening tonight for the U11s.
The Cook division team came up against arguably the strongest side in the league (Wanstead) who set an extremely stiff target of 164 for the team to try and chase down. We had our chances, with a few tough catching opportunities put down, and had those been taken then things may have been a bit different.
Off the back of that it was always going to be a big ask to chase down the total that was set - the team tried, but in the rush to try and keep the scorecard ticking over went for some runs that were not there leading to a few run outs that made the already tough task that bit tougher.
So a hard night for the team but it must be put in perspective - we are still 3rd in the Cook division and have now played the toughest side in the league so all to play for in our remaining couple of fixtures.
The key thing to focus on for those matches are trying to ensure we bat out as many, if not all, the 12 overs to set the best score we can (easier said than done, but avoiding the run outs will really help with that) and just trying to keep focused in the field so when those catching or run out opportunities come we are able to take them.
Onwards and upwards!
