Another Friday and another league win for the U11s. Once more an excellent team performance!

Off the back of losing the toss and being put into bat, Kiyaan - as usual - got us off to a solid start before Woodford Green’s best bowler managed to flummox him with his left handed, round the wicket, line. Ollie blasted a vital quick 8 to ramp up the pressure on Woodford Green, including one great 6, only to then fall to a good catch off the wall before Henry stepped up and provided the base for the remainder of the innings to pivot around - firstly forming a good partnership with Isaac until Isaac played on off another bamboozler from the same left handed bowler, and then piling on some runs at the end with Max (who hit a beautiful 6 as part of his 14 run cameo). Henry ended up top scoring with 26 from 30 balls - a critical contribution to post a competitive total.

The boys then knuckled down for what was always going to be a tight game in the field, but got off to the perfect start with a miserly opening over from Isaac, conceding only 4 runs, and picking up a wicket off the third ball due to some absolute magic from Adhrit with a stretching catch at point. The Williams’ boys, Adhrit and Max all then kept their first overs tight and the runs down to a minimum, supported by some solid keeping from Kiyaan, before Henry got the ball in hand for his second over and saw to their captain with some help from Isaac who built on Adhrit’s catching magic and held onto one at mid off that came at him like a rocket. Not to be outdone, Adhrit then decided to up the ante further and picked up a (2) wicket maiden with some excellent spin that was probably the best over of the match - although big credit goes to Max for converting that great bowling into wickets, firstly with an excellent direct hit run out followed by another incredible catch at point that needed all of Max’s cat like reflexes to hold onto. Kiyaan, Ollie, and Isaac continued to make things tough for Woodford Green before Adhrit was brought on to bowl a third over due to Kiyaan hurting his arm and managed to force an edge out of their last batter off his first ball, which Max once more was able to hold onto and close out the match for a 6 run win.
